After seeing that people were interested in whether or not high end products are really worth the money, we thought we’d take a venture into how you can find out for yourself whether or not a product is worth the money or whether you are simply paying for a brand name.
The Brand
There’s no use in beating around the bush, we do pay more for high end products simply because it has a brand name we may have come to admire and, ultimately, we’re scared of moving on to another in case it doesn’t work as well we would hope. Advertising works wonders in this respect too. The more a certain branded product is advertised, the more purchases the company is going to receive depending upon the reputation of the brand.
The Active Ingredients
The best way to find out if a product really is worth the money is to research thoroughly before you jump in and buy it. The best way to do this is to find out what the products active ingredients are. The active ingredients are the ingredients in the product that are supposed to give the desired effect. The higher the percentage of the active ingredients, the better the product will work. If you are looking at the packaging, and it doesn’t specifically state which ingredients are the active ingredients, then it is usually the first few ingredients in the ingredient list. The first on the list will have the highest percentage, unless the product has been patented, which means that the products aren’t necessarily listed in order of concentration. If you do not have access to the product then it is perfectly easy to search for the product ingredients at home on the computer.
Research
I would strongly urge that you research the ingredients thoroughly. Simply because you want to know if the ingredients that are in the product are effective at doing what you need/want them to do. Often companies will throw anything in that might do a similar job, but without that initial research you will not know if the ingredients are the specific ones that you’re searching for. A certain ingredient may have a high price tag which only branded products can get hold of, but do your research and see whether this specific product is doing what the company claims it does.
A trip to the Doctors
To get the best products possible, it may even be necessary to get them on prescription. For example acne cream; it is possible to get yourself acne/spot treatments from any health and beauty store or even from supermarket shelves, but some ingredients are only allowed to be kept behind a pharmacy. Some products are kept behind the pharmacy, so don’t necessarily need a prescription. However, the pharmacist will still need to make sure that they think that you are a suitable candidate for the product you are asking for.
Is Natural Better
Some of you may wonder if natural products are better for you, and are therefore worth the extra money that you pay for them. In one sense, yes they are because they are less likely to cause damage to your skin. However, there are plenty of lab made ingredients out there that do not damage the skin, and because they have had specific tests and various alterations they can even be, sometimes, more effective as an a active ingredient. Don’t be drawn in to the idea that natural products are better as it isn’t always the case.
In Conclusion
It isn’t always necessary to disregard the low end products, as most of these can contain the same ingredients as a high end product. It is necessary to do your research though. A low end product might not have the same percentage of ingredient as the high end product, and therefore, paying more may save you more in the long run, as it is more likely to work more effectively and to your satisfaction.
